BILLS WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THE BILLS ACTUALLY WON A GAME. THEY BEAT THE NY JETS 17-14 WITH TRENT EDWARDS AS THE QB. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, MEET THE BILLS NEW QUARTERBACK FOR THE NEXT 10 YEARS. COULD EDWARDS BE THE SECOND COMING OF TOM BRADY? HE WAS A LATE DRAFT PICK LIKE BRADY? WE SHALL SEE. I DON'T WANT TO GET TO EXCITED. IF THEY BEAT THE 4-0 COWBOYS NEXT WEEK ON MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL, THEN TRENT EDWARDS IS GOING TO LOOK LIKE A GOD TO EVERYONE IN BUFFALO.
IN OTHER SPORTS, THE BASEBALL PLAYOFF MATCHUPS STILL HAVEN'T BEEN DECIDED. THE PADRES WILL BE TAKING ON THE ROCKIES TOMORROW IN COLORADO FOR THE WILD CARD POSITION. I'LL BE ROUTING FOR THE ROCKIES, BUT THE PADRES HAVE POSSIBLY THE NL CY YOUNG CHAMPION PITCHER PITCHING TOMORROW IN JAY PEAVY. I REALLY HATE THE PADRES (JUST WANTED TO ADD THAT). ALSO THE METS DEBACLE WAS BEAUTIFUL TO WATCH. AND THE MOST IMPORTANT THING OUT OF ALL OF THIS WAS THE FACT THAT MY TEAM, THE ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS, ARE BACK IN THE POSTSEASON. THERE LAST APPEARENCE WAS IN 2002. IT WASN'T A REAL MEMORIBLE 2002 WHEN THEY GOT SWEPT BY THE ST. LOUIS CARDINALS IN THREE, BUT THIS TIME AROUND PLAYING THE CHICAGO CUBS, I GIVE THEM THE EDGE. THEY HAVE THE PITCHING, WHETHER ITS STARTING OR BULLPEN, WHICH YOU NEVER KNOW COULD POSSIBLY TAKE THEM TO THE WORLD SERIES. THE DIAMONDBACKS HAVE ALSO DONE IT THE HARD WAY, GETTING RID OF SOME OF THEIR MOST BELOVED PLAYERS FROM THE 2001 CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM AND REBUILT THROUGH TLHEIR FARM SYSTEM. WAY TO GO GUYS! ALL THE EXPERTS WERE PREDICTING THE METS, CARDINALS AND PADRES WOULD BE TAKING THEIR DIVISIONS, BUT GUESS WHAT, THE EXPERTS ARE JUST AS SMART AS YOU AND ME. HAHA. GO DIAMONDBACKS! I FIGURED THE DIAMONDBACKS WOULD MAKE A RUN BUT FALTER IN THE END, BUT PLAYED HARD TO THE END AND HAVE ENDED UP WITH THE BEST RECORD IN THE NL. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! I THINK THEY'VE GOT A CHANCE. YA GOTTA BELIEVE. AS FOR THE AL, ITS GOING TO BE THE ANGELS AND INDIANS IN THE AL CHAMPIONSHIP. MY WORLD SERIES PREDICTION: ANGELS VS. DIAMONDBACKS WITH THE DIAMONDBACKS DOING THE UNTHINKABLE AND WINNING IN SIX GAMES.
HOCKEY HAS ALREADY STARTED WITH THE DUCKS AND KINGS SPLITTING THE GAMES IN LONDON. INTERESTING. SABRES WILL WIN BOTH THEIR HOME AND HOME SERIES WITH THE ISLES. I THINK FRIDAY NIGHT THEY WILL WIN 5-2 AND SATURDAY A CLOSER ONE 3-2 IN A SHOOTOUT. MILLER ISN'T THE BEST GOALIE IN THE LEAGUE, I WOULD PROBABLY SAY HE RANKS IN THE TOP 10, BUT HE DEFINALTY IS THE BEST GOALIE AT THE SHOOTOUT. WELL I GOT TO RUN, PEACE, JOHN AKA RONNIE JAMES DIO AKA HOLY DIVER

PS GO DIAMONDBACKS!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

A Team Full of Babies

I always thought the Toronto Maple Leafs had a bunch of players who wined and got calls their way. This opinion was officially changed tonight when I attended the Pittsburgh Penguins Buffalo Sabres preseason finale. Pittsburgh's Maxime Talbot (who had a goal and assist and is one of my sleepers), Jordan Stall, Brooks Orpik, Sidney Crosby, and Darryl Sydor. Crosby was too busy sleeping in his crib in Cole Harbour, NS (birthplace) because his bed time is still 7 o'clock with the hockey season not officially starting yet for Pittsburgh. One more word on Pittsburgh, they have a solid lineup and I really like Ryan Whitney a d man who is real nice anchor for them on the powerplay, but they got a pretty big Achilles heel and that is their goaltender Marc Andre Fluery. I am glad we've got Miller because this guy, whenever I see him, is never impressive.
In other news, apparently there has been a new name added to the color commentary position for the Sabres. Some of you might know him form Hockey Night in Canada. He is from Amherst. Do you know who I'm talking about? Unfortunately it is not Don Cherry, but this guy has got some nice experience. Drum roll please------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
it is Harry Neil. Thats pretty cool. We shall see. Personally I want Roby, but if he doesn't take the job Harry Neil is a great idea.
The game itself tonight was good. Buffalo jumped out to a two goal lead, then Pittsburgh went up 3-2, and then Buffalo answered real quickly with two goals. Exciting game expect for the Pittsburgh Winers. A lot of Canadians were at the game tonight supporting Pittsburgh because of Sid the Baby. Oh well, goes with living in Buffalo; the Canadian invasion. And another note about the game, it was the first game in forever that it wasn't sold out. But I don't think they count that. There was 17, 856 fans at the game.

Say it ain't so Jimmy

Today in the sports section of the Buffalo News, Jim Lorentz announced that he is going to be retiring from his position within the Buffalo Sabres organization. For those readers who do not know good old Jimmy boy, he was the Sabres color commentator for 26 years. Lorentz worked with the late Ted Darling and current Sabres voice Rick Jeannerett. Jim said he could not handle all of the traveling that is involved with this job.
In defense of Jim, it sounds like the guy has it made. He is sixty years old with a house in New Brunswick were he spends his time fishing.
One amusing part of the article was the response by Managing Partner Larry Quinn. His response went as follows, "It was his decision. Totally. I’d love to have him back. He didn’t want to do it anymore. There was no other issue.” It was almost as if the reporters were on him for this one (It probably was his fault!). I can almost hear what the reporters asked Quinn, such as, "Now what did you this time Quinn?" Jeez, what an offseason this has been for the Sabres organization.
Also in the article it talks about the possible replacements for Lorentz. It listed three names, two in which I am still scratching my head about: Matthew Barnaby, John Tucker, and Mike Robitaille. I hope its Roby. The guy is filled with tons of hockey information. Not only that, but he has also filled in before for Rick and Jim, and he's just a fun lovin' guy. As for Tucker and Barnaby, can someone please say, "No experience!"
Oh well, change does have to come sometime in life, and it definitely has for the Buffalo Sabres. I wonder if this change includes a Stanley Cup?

FANTASY HOCKEY 2007-08

If you do not know already, the NHL hockey season is just around the corner and I'm sure some of you are starting to think about fantasy hockey. Who should I draft?, When is it a good time to draft this player? etc. Well, I am here to inform you there are going to be two definite sleeper picks this year. I mean obliviously there are going more than just two sleeper picks, but these two guys will go unnoticed in most drafts. Drum roll please ..............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
SURPRISE: My two sleeper picks are David Wozniewski and Jan Mark Talbo. You make ask "Who the hell are these players?" Well, Jan Mark Talbo is a center on the Pittsburgh Penguins, a team with obvious talent, and Andrew Wozniewski is a defensemen for the every great Toronto Maple Leafs. I think the Leafs in general are going to have a pretty good year this year. Last year the Leafs were one point out of eighth place last year, in which they endured several serious injures to key players. In my opinion, David Wozniewski and Maxime Talbot's stocks are tremendously on rise for this years fantasy hockey leagues. If I were you, I wouldn't waste a pick on Sidney Crosby or a Nickolas Lidstrom. Spend your first two picks on real, top of the line goalies like Patrick Lalime and Kelly Hrudey, and then go after my surprisers, Andy Wozniewski and Jan Mark Talbo. I'm tellin ya, first place baby! People pay large sums of money for this kind of expert analysis, and you get it for free.

The Break Wall

In English class today I will be presenting this amazing work of art. It is a story of how good of a fishing state New York truly is. Also during this paper, I tell you a story of how a normal day of fishing normally goes for me. I'm sorry Ryan John Sanders Welch, you are not mentioned in this article. I figured you would be to much for my inexperienced audience. Enjoy. Here it is......

The Fishing World’s Mecca: Buffalo, N.Y.

Atlantic Salmon, Black Crappie, Bluegill, Bowfin, Brook Trout, Brown Bullhead, Brown Trout, Carp, Chain Pickerel, Channel Catfish, Chinook Salmon, Coho Salmon, Freshwater Drum (aka Sheephead), Lake Trout, Largemouth Bass, Longnose Gar, Muskie, Northern Pike, Pumkinseed, Rainbow Smelt, Rainbow Trout, Steelhead, Rednose Sucker, Rock Bass, Walleye, White Bass, White Crappie, White Perch, White Sucker, and Yellow Perch. These are the names of fish that can be caught statewide in New York.

Being situated between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario, the Western New York area is home to some of the best fishing in the world. This past July 19th through the 22nd, the Bassmaster’s Empire Chase Tournament made their way up to the Western New York region to try out the fishing in Lake Erie. Besides the wind and fog that plagued parts of the weekend long tournament, the fishermen loved fishing Lake Erie. Oklahoma native Edwin Evers ended up winning the tournament with a Smallmouth weight total of 65 pounds, 7 ounces.

Fishing the River

Early one morning in the middle of summer, I wake up with anticipation and excitement, wondering what I might catch at the Niagara River on the break wall. I put my “lucky” neon yellow fishing shirt on and grab my “Bass Pro” hat, fishing vest, Guide Series fishing rod with Berkley eight pound test, and my tackle box. My dad is coming along, so that means we are going to have to stop for a cup of Tim Horton’s coffee before we start fishing.

When we reach our destination, Sqauw Island Park, my dad and I stop to take in the scenery, conditions, and the crowdedness of the break wall. The sun is starting to peer over the tall buildings of the city and it is quite windy as always, the current of the river is extremely fast, and there are groupings of people either just getting to the river like us, or scattered along the break wall already fishing. My dad and I get set for our next journey, a journey that will take us past the Peace Bridge, down the break wall, almost too where the Niagara River and Lake Erie meet. The anticipation of catching that first fish really gets your blood pumping as you make that twenty minute walk down to the first fishing spot where you think will produce the best to start off.

When my dad and I finally think we have found that first perfect spot, we get our fishing poles ready and argue who will have more success. I’ll start off the day using a tube with a jig head for bait. The tube is supposed to look like a little minnow to the fish. My dad on the other hand will start off his day with worms and a hook. When it comes to my dad and fishing, he takes the more traditional approach while I like to try and out smart the fish.

Fishing at the break wall can be difficult at times. Some of the difficulties include large amounts of weeds causing many snags throughout the day, ferocious winds making it difficult to cast, and a dangerous current, which as a fisherman, you do not want to get close too. If all of these conditions are working against you, it can make for a long day at the break wall. But as one brilliant man once said, “A bad day fishing is like a good day at work.”

On this day, my dad is victorious. Sometimes it helps to use live bait I guess. My dad ends up catching three Largemouth Bass, a Smallmouth Bass, and a few Sun Fish, while I end up with three Smallmouth Bass. I am not worried though because I know there will be another day at the break wall.

Scary Moment

Today as you may know the Buffalo Bills opened up there season against the Denver Broncos. The Bills would end up losing the game on a last second field goal by Jason Elam, but the story of the game was what happened on the first play of the second half. The half began the way a normal second half would begin with the Bills kicking the ball off to the Broncos. The returner for the Broncos was able to get the ball to around the twenty yard line before Buffalo's 2nd string tight end Kevin Everett made the tackle. Unfortunately for Everett, he lowered into the shoulder of the returner causing a series spinal injury. They rushed him off the field in an ambulance to a nearby hospital were surgeons preformed emergency surgery on Everett. This is all the Bills at this time have released. More will become available experts are saying tomorrow.
This is an extremely serious situation. A man's life here is at state, and I would hate to see something terrible like this happen to anyone. I pray for everything to be alright. This man loves playing football and to have something happen like this happen is awful. Folks, this was just a routine play turned life threatening. I just want you to keep Kevin Everett and his family in your thoughts for a while until we the public know more about the situation. Like I said this is not only a career ending, but a life threatening injury. I hope everything turns out okay, and hopefully Kevin Everett will play for the Bills again very soon.

Some New Fashion and a Concert

First I would like to say "Buenos dias" to all my loyal readers out there. Spanish is going good right now for me and school currently all around is going pretty good. I'm already two weeks into the school year and everything is going smoothly. The Indianapolis Colts won last night 41-10, Go Colts! Manning looked good as always, but the defense looked great. That will be key for them if they are going to repeat.
You must be wondering right now why in my title I say I'm going to be talking about fashion? Well here is why, I purchased last night a Dog hoodie and t-shirt. If you didn't know this already, I'm a big supporter of Duane "DOG" Chapman and his family. He's got a real hot wife and he just kicks ass. Whenever I get a chance I watch him on A&E. His show hasn't been on lately so I decided to look up on and see when Dog the Bounty Hunter will be on A&E again. It looks like they will be running documentaries on him starting Sunday September 9th at 11:00 pm EST and if that's too late, which it is for me,there will shows about him all week long. Just go to A&E.com to check the schedule out. If you are into catching druggies, this is the show for you. Also along the way there will be a few laughs, so like I said, it is a very enjoyable show. By the way, if you want to help Dog the Bounty Hunter out, just go to www.dogthebountyhunter.com and sign his petition. He is being wrongly accused of something in Mexico. Apparently the greatest bounty hunter in the world can't do his work in Mexico, where, if you don't mind me saying, is one of the countries in the world that needs help most regarding druggies.
And then finally there is a HUGE concert coming up. The Heaven and Hell tour is COMING to Buffalo, New York. Starring, yours truly, will be held on September 19 at the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center. Tickets start as low as 37 bucks.
Well I'm leaving. Peace, John aka Ronnie James Dio aka Holy Diver

Sorry and the sad thing known as Buffalo sports

First I would like to apologize to my loyal readers for not writing a blog post on ECW last night. Holy Diver did not get much sleep the night before and needed to catch up. I may have to scratch the idea of ECW blog posts because I work every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday until 9:00 pm and I may not have access to a television. You know, SOME people have work for a living.
Anyway I wanted to do this a while back, but I never was able too. I wanted to write a blog on my predictions for this years Buffalo sports teams. First I will start with a team who hasn't, sadly, made the playoffs in 8 years now, and if you haven't guessed who this team is you're just plain stupid. The Buffalo Bills begin this season going into it with, yes again, extremely low expectations. Willis McGahee, London Flechter, TKO, and Nate Clemens have all left. To fill in these holes the Bills have drafted Paul Ploznuzzaey (I still can't say or spell his name), Marshwan Lynch, and have signed Jason Webster. Marv Levy signed a couple of offensive linemen as well to help out with our quarterback JP Losmen. I hope the offensive line's problems are fixed, but if preseason is any indication, it isn't. The Bills defense is pretty much in shambles, if it wasn't already last year. Cornerback, defensive end, linebackers and defensive tackle are all problems on the defense, giving the Bills their only strong point at safety. One word can only describe this defense currently: "Pitiful." My 2007 prediction for the Buffalo Bills- 5-11 record finishing fourth in the AFC East. The AFC East will go as follows: New England Patriots with a 14-2 record, New York Jets with an 8-8 record, Miami Dolphins with a 6-10 record and the Bills like I said with a 5-11 record. I think the Patriots prediction is pretty obvious; they have much better receivers, a good running back, an amazing qb, and a great, proven, veteran defense. The Jets are a question mark. They had a great run last year, but their new running back has already been hurt this year, Thomas Jones, their qb has had problems with his shoulder in the past and can't throw the ball far, Chad Pennington, and their defense can't stop the run. The Dolphins, so the experts say, have a good defense which will make them one game better than the Bills.
SUPERBOWL PREDICTION: Indianapolis Colts vs. New Orleans Saints with the Colts repeating!
As for the Sabres, I can't see this team finishing any higher than 6th place in the Eastern Conference. Like I said, Miller is going to have to play amazing if they are even are going to contend for a playoff spot. The Sabres every year also seem to go through this period were half the roster gets injured. They cannot do this this year, and if they do, Buffalo may be looking towards next year very early. The biggest problem on the Sabres isn't their players, but their front office. I have never seen a more stubborn front office in sports history. They continue to lose important players to free agency because they refuse to offer contracts to players who have one year left on their contracts. The front office has done it again this year, so expect to lose Brain Campbell, Ryan Miller, and Drew Stafford if it continues to play out the way it has forever. Speaking of Drew Stafford, who says he's going to be anywhere as good as he was last year? He had one good half a year, and Lindy very rarely played him in the playoffs last year, so he might not be as good as we think. And finally the defense. Oh my gosh, why is Spacek and Kalinin still on this team? I thought Kalinin was supposed to be our stud defensemen right after the lockout, and I thought Spacek was supposed to help out last year on our powerplay and maybe hit a guy once in a while. I guess our GM messed up. Oh well, we are just Buffaloians. This team could very well be a joke this year. Don't have high expectations because Sabre fans, you may extremely disappointed come November/ December. My prediction this year for the Sabres is a year of injury, again, and one were you will see winning/ losing streaks. They will be very streaky and just beat out teams like the Flyers, Canadiens, and Thrashers for the final couple of playoff spots in the conference. Here is how I see it playing out this year:

Northeast:

Ottawa
Toronto
Boston
Buffalo
Montreal

Atlantic:

New York Rangers
Pittsburgh
Philadelphia
New York Islanders
New Jersey

Southeast:

Tampa Bay
Florida
Atlanta
Washington
Carolina

Eastern Conference

1.) New York Rangers
2.) Ottawa Senators
3.) Tampa Bay Lightning
4.) Pittsburgh Penguins
5.) Toronto Maple Leafs
6.) Boston Bruins
7.) Florida Panthers
8.) Buffalo Sabres

I would like to note that for the Western Conference the same teams will be competing this year like the Red Wings, Ducks, Sharks, Flames and Canucks so I don't see the point. My Finals prediction will be the New York Rangers vs. Vancouver Canucks with the Canucks taking it in 6 to bring the Cup back to Canada!
I also would like to let my loyal readers know that I will have write-ups this year on Don Cherry's Coach's Corner this year. I am a big fan of Don Cherry; the guy just knows what he's talking about when it comes to hockey and politics.
Please let me know how you think this year will turn out for our Buffalo sports teams this year. Like I said, 2007-08 doesn't sound like it's going to be the Bills or Sabres year. Then again, when has it ever?
Peace,
John aka Ronnie James Dio aka Holy Diver

Awesome News Guys

If anyone were to win man of the year in Buffalo, New York, Chesley McNeil, Don Paul and Kevin O' Connell would win it every three years all the time. These guys give the most accurate weather forcasts I have ever seen. I have been to many places like Orlando, Pheonix, New York, Toronto, Orangeburg, Charlotte, Indianapolis, and many other cities, and these guys just blow all of the other weather focasters out of the water. Let me ask you this question, "Who would ever want to be a weather forcaster in Buffalo?" Buffalo has got to be one of the hardest cities to predict weather for. These guys deserve all of the credit I am giving them and I think it would only be fitting if you let me know how you feel about Mr. Chesley McNeil, Don Paul and Kevin O'Connell.

If I were to make the difficult decision of ranking the three, I would have to go:

1.) Chesley McNeil
2.) Don Paul
3.) Kevin O'Connell
